Special Educational Needs

 Special Needs Assistants

St. Joseph’s Secondary School has an inclusive admissions school policy, meaning that students with Special Educational needs are welcome to our school. We have a fully qualified Resource and Learning Support teacher that works with students either on a one to one basis or to a small class. Students are withdrawn for support if they have an Educational assessment.

Support is also given through team teaching in mainstream classes. At present we also have four full-time S.N.A’s assigned by the Department of Education to four particular students who meet the relevant criteria. S.N.A’s support there students in class and during the transition between classes. An individual plan of work is made up for each student and for some students a separate Education plan is designed to cater for their Educational needs during their time at St. Joseph’s.
