Alcohol and Drug Awareness

Alcohol/Drug Awareness

Our school is committed to raising awareness among our students about the effects of alcohol and drug abuse.  Apart from the cross-curricular learning in this field across all age groups, towards the beginning of each year first years are introduced to consider well the dangers associated with under-age drinking and drug abuse.

This school year 2011/2012, twenty-nine of our first years took a promise to stay off all alcoholic drink until they are eighteen years’ old and never to do drugs.  The students are to be highly commended for their motivation and courage in taking on such a commitment which will be very challenging but most beneficial for their lives if they keep this promise.

Activities

  • Incidental meetings to support those who have taken the pledge
  • Monthly PA (Pledge Association) meetings for one hour after school to discuss areas relating to teen pressure around alcohol/drug abuse
  • Outings for smaller groups
