Basketball

Originally Stanhope Street was known as a Netball school. With the decline in Netball in Ireland, basketball was introduced into the school in 1996. This was quickly followed by two All-Ireland titles. In 2005 the school won the Leinster senior title.

Stanhope Street offers a wide variety of sporting activities in the school including football, basketball and Athletics, which are held during lunchtime and afterschool. This year we have a first year, second year and a senior team in Basketball. The 1st and 2nd year games start in the New Year and are run on a weekly basis while the senior games are run before Christmas.

Friendly matches are also arranged with nearby and local schools in the area. Training takes place twice a week, during lunchtime and after school on a Tuesday. New faces and beginners are most welcome during the year.
